On October 29, the first annual conference on Innovation in Education, Teaching and Learning through ICT was held. The conference was organized by SHPIK (Professional Association of Informatics of Kosovo) and was supported by the “Mileniumi i Tretë” school in Pristina.

Primary, secondary and university teachers, school principals, ICT professionals, technologists, students, enthusiasts and researchers from all levels and from the entire region participated in this event.

The conference opened with the introductory speech of Mr. Bekim Kasumi, executive director of SHPIK (Professional Association of Informatics of Kosovo) who, among other things, highlighted the fact that this annual conference, not coincidentally, is held on International Internet Day (October 29). Whereas, this event exactly marks the first public presentation of SHPIK (Professional Association of Informatics of Kosovo). During the speech, Mr. Kasumi revealed some of the services that SHPIK will offer to IT professionals, teachers, students and technology enthusiasts who will be part of this association.

A welcoming speech was also given by the director of the ” Mileniumi i Tretë ” school, Mrs. Afrore Lila, who pointed out the focus of the ” Mileniumi i Tretë” school on the proper use of technology in the learning process. And then, the representative of the donor of this conference, Mr. Arsim Aziri from the Austrian Development Agency addressed the audience, who, among other things, informed the participants about the investments and financial support that ADA is undertaking in Kosovo, towards the advancement of the quality of education and the improvement of doing business.

The conference continued with experts invited as guests with their keynote speeches.

The main speech of the conference was opened by Dr. Ardiana Sula, Senior Lecturer in Data Science and Computer Science at the University of New Haven in the USA. The speech of Dr. Sula focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven platforms for personalized learning.

Dr. Martin Kandlhofer, Researcher from the Austrian Computer Society gave the next speech on the topic: “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education”.

The next speech was by Rrezarta Xhaferi, eLearning expert, who gave a speech on the topic: “E-Learning through the Digital Platform in a post-covid era”.

After these speeches, the conference continued with presentations of teachers and experts from all levels and from all over Kosovo. In this part presentations were delivered by Teuta Mehmeti, Mevlyde Kasumi, Zoja Lohaj, Lulzim Thaqi, Dije Shatri, Sevil Haxhija and Emin Hoxha. These presentations revealed their experiences in the use of technology in the learning process, trends in the development of electronic learning content, the tools and platforms they use to support the learning process, etc.

While, in the afternoon, various workshops were held with similar topics. The workshops were held by Endrit Rizanaj, Engji Goga, Arta Dobra Dreshaj, Medina Xhuraj, Blerta Mehmetaj, Rajmonda Berisha, Besnik Hajdari, Shkëlqesë Osmanaj, Dijellza Hasani, Ariana Blakaj and Sadik Ahmataj.

The first annual conference on Innovation in Education, Teaching and Learning through ICT was closed with an open discussion with all present participants. More than 60 participants and guests took part in this event. The conference was held in the premises of the college of RIT Kosovo in Pristina.
