About Blockchain & Fintech SIG
The Blockchain and Fintech SIG represents industry professionals working together to study how blockchain and fintech can help improve our work and live.
Blockchain has become a revolutionary decentralised data management framework that can transform the way in which we share information. In addition to its soaring popularity in the finance sector, blockchain has explosive growth of applications in other major industry sectors, including but not limited to, transportation, healthcare, energy and supply chain.
Objectives
Our objective is to help companies, consumers and the entire society to better manage their financial operations, processes and lives by utilizing specialized software and algorithms that are used on computers and, increasingly, smartphones.
In this interest group, challenges facing successful blockchain development will be touched upon, including the blockchain trilemma- achievement of decentralized, secure, and scalable networks.
We seek to educate on the utility of decentralized applications (dapps), smart contracts, and oracle networks and their current real-world applications, including decentralized finance and non-fungible tokens. The geopolitical implications of blockchain applications as well as the migration towards the development of central bank digital currencies may be discussed.
Following this, the group will also tackle new ways in which smart contracts may be employed and evaluate current projects within different sectors of this new digital economy.
Scope
In this SIG you will have the opportunity to learn about the different types of FinTech, the skills needed to work in the field and the career prospects of FinTech, also learn about mobile wallets and payment applications, eHealth, etc.
To achieve this, the members of this SIG will have the opportunity through various events to:
- to debate current topics in this field with local and international professionals
- to organize trainings
- to exchange their experiences and knowledge
- to promote good practices
- to identify the challenges of the profession and devise relevant solutions
- to support private-public institutions in the compilation of relevant policies
- to discuss workflow, forecasts, and trends.
